Interview: Yung Cafa
Meet Yung Cafa!
Born and Raised in Los Angeles, California, Yung Cafa is an aspiring rapper, producer, and professional “relaxer”. He started his musical journey with piano lessons at the age of seven and picked up the trumpet in middle school. Learning classical, ragtime, latin, and jazz music formed the musical foundation for Cafa, who incorporates these musical styles into his own beats. Early beats were made on Garageband, but his producer journey would take a spin when his dad gifted him Logic Pro X for Christmas in 2016.
For Cafa, creating a beat is like attempting to beat your high score on a video game — you just keep on pushing yourself until you accomplish it.” He achieved a high score when dropping the Loyola High School classic, “Fuck Uche” on Soundcloud, creating some local buzz for Cafa. A couple months later, he dropped “Schmack Mode”, taking inspiration from his friend Schmack’s Henny fueled party night. Seeing the success of both of these tracks continues to push Cafa to beat his next high score. A mixtape and music videos are on the way.
